Forte Belanger Now Offering Select “Green” Product Options as an Environment-Friendly Solution to Corporate Events

TROY, Mich. – Forte Belanger, a leading special event design and catering firm, now offers clients 100 percent biodegradable “Green” product options such as plates, trays, napkins, glassware and cutlery as an environment-friendly solution for catered events. Many of these new products will be the similar in cost to their non-biodegradable counterparts.

The “Green” plates and trays to be used by Forte Belanger are made from sugar cane fiber that is a byproduct of the sugar refining process. The use of these types of products eliminates dependence of traditional wood fiber-based materials in disposable tableware. Since sugar cane fiber is traditionally burned for disposal, the diversion of the fiber into the making of tableware prevents harmful air pollution.

The potato-starch cutlery is sturdy, attractive, reusable and suitable for hot foods up to 220 degrees Fahrenheit. It will biodegrade within 180 days in a commercial composting facility. “Green” napkins are unbleached and made from recycled paper content. “We understand that more companies are now interested in products that benefit the environment,” John Forte, president of Forte Belanger, said. “Even when it comes to special event catering, environment-friendly options are necessary.”
